1959 Studebaker Lark Deluxe by Brooklin Models BRK149

Availability: Special order item!

The Lark, although a new name, was not really a new car. The central section of the existing Studebaker line - itself a survivor from 1953 - was retained, and front and rear were lopped off. Wheelbase was reduced by 8 inches. The result was a compact car with the interior space found in larger competitors. At the front was a Hawk-inspired grille. Available in four body styles with six or V8 engines in two stages of trim, the Lark was a triumph of recycling and sales increased by more than 250 percent in the first year.

What had started out as a cost-saving exercise became a much imitated design feature. With double and triple tone colour schemes the new Ramblers were an instant hit with both motoring press and public, the distinctive 'basket handle' colour divide being a first for the industry.

Pontiac styling was all new for 1955. Sharing much of its underpinnings with Chevrolet and based on General Motor's 'A' body, the aim for 1955 was increased sales for Pontiac. New V8 engines meant top speeds of over 100mph with the 0-60 dash of around 12 seconds. For 1956 changes were relatively minor. Front end styling was slightly cleaner, a four door hardtop joined the range, and the V8 was upgraded. Our rendition is finished in Chesapeake Blue Metallic.

About Brooklin ModelsAbout Brooklin Models

Availability:

The Brooklin collection is an evolving series of 1:43 scale models from America's automotive past - perhaps the most influential cars in the world. These models are precision cast in heavy white metal from handcrafted patterns and painted individually in authentic colours with chromed brightwork, white wall tyres where applicable and simulated glass windows. The Brooklin Collection represents over four decades of the American Automotive industry with new models being introduced on a regular basis and are acknowledged as being the best value-for-money, hand built collectables in the world.
Brooklin Models are recognised as the world's leading manufacturer of 1:43 scale, collectable, white metal model automobiles and trucks. Cast in white metal, the 'weighty', realistic feel to our models make them highly desirable and collectable.
They have made many recent enhancements and additions throughout the entire range and with continued development of their skills and methods in manufacturing, we believe the end product is more realistic than ever.
All Brooklin models are carefully hand-built, often involving many individual pieces. The average production run for a model over a five year period rarely exceed 3,000 units, compared to die-cast, which are produced in hundreds of thousands. This naturally gives Brooklin models a much higher collectable and rairity factor.
